(Kuroiler) (Breed)
The Kuroiler (also known as Kuroiler FFG) is a dual-purpose commercial crossbred developed by Keggfarms Private Limited in India in the early 1990s. It was developed to thrive in harsh, low-input rural backyard conditions while delivering high meat and egg yields. The breed has reached over one million poor rural households across 19 states in India.
Breed Characteristics
Economic Importance
The Kuroiler delivers up to four times higher production than traditional indigenous birds and has achieved commercial success across 19 Indian states. It is widely used in West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, and the North-Eastern states, generating substantial micro-entrepreneurial employment for rural communities. Its multi-colored plumage, meat texture ('bite'), and brown eggs fetch premium prices in local live-bird markets.
Overview (Overview)
Origin (Origin)

Management Requirements (Management Requirements)
Health Considerations (Health Considerations)
Economic Importance (Economic Importance)
Advantages (Advantages)
Limitations (Limitations)
(FCR) (Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR))
Best Suitable Farming Systems (Best Suitable Farming Systems)

(Anak)
The Israeli Anak broiler line was a commercial broiler genotype developed by Anak Breeders in Israel and introduced to India in the late 1970s and 1980s. It offered good heat tolerance due to its genetic development in Mediterranean climates. However, its lack of local technical and breeding infrastructure prevented it from competing effectively with dominant localized Cobb lines, leading to its discontinuation. It is no longer commercially available.
