Average Body Weight (ABW)

ABW is the indicator of growth rate. It is calculated by weighing a representative sample of birds (usually 5-10% of the flock) and dividing by the count.

Monitoring Growth

Weights should be checked weekly at the same time of day. A sudden drop in ABW gain compared to targets is often the first sign of sub-optimal feed quality or hidden disease stress.
